Marketing for tradies
We run your website, Google profile, rankings and ads as one system, shaped around how your trade wins work.
How does marketing grow a trade business?
Four things bring in work online: your website, Google rankings, your Google profile, and ads. Which one leads depends on your trade.
-
Where every enquiry ends up. It has to show your work, load fast on a phone, and make contacting you easy.
-
Wins you a spot in the map when someone nearby searches your trade. Runs on your Google profile and reviews.
-
Earns rankings your website keeps, so people planning a job find you month after month without a fee per click.
-
Buys the top spot on Google today while the rankings build. You pay per click, so we watch the click prices.
Each part feeds the next: ads and rankings bring people in, the website turns them into enquiries, and good reviews make every other part work harder.
Your future clients are already searching
Real Google searches, counted every month, and every one of them is someone looking to hire. Here's the monthly total, trade by trade.
| Plumbers | 71,200 |
|---|---|
| Electricians | 60,400 |
| Air conditioning | 28,100 |
| Landscapers | 20,300 |
| Painters | 15,680 |
| Carpenters | 11,330 |
| Roofers | 5,580 |
Each figure is the total of the top hiring searches shown on that trade's page; every trade's full demand runs higher. Source: Semrush AU, pulled 2 Aug 2026.
Why marketing needs strategy behind it
How Australians find and pick a tradie keeps shifting. These are the findings we build every plan around.
-
212,590 searches a month
Add up the hiring searches in the table above and it's 212,590 a month. That demand goes to whoever shows up.
Semrush AU, pulled 2 Aug 2026.
-
People now ask Google and AI
77% of Australians now use AI, and 12% say it's their main way to find information, up from 5% a year ago.
Telsyte Australian AI Study, 2026.
-
They'd rather type than ring
Since 2017, landline use has dropped from 54% to 12%, and 77% of Australians message through apps. Make written contact easy.
ACMA, How we communicate, 2026.
-
Word of mouth gets checked
Even the clients who got your name from a mate look you up before they call. What they find settles it.
Find your trade
Every trade gets hired a bit differently, so every trade has its own page. Here they are.
-
Plumber marketing
Burst pipes and blocked drains don't wait. Winning the map, day and night, is most of the game.
-
Electrician marketing
The after-hours callout and the switchboard quote are different searches. The plan has to win both.
-
Air conditioning marketing
The summer rush finds you on its own. The quiet months are what marketing is for.
-
Landscaper marketing
People compare a few landscapers before they pick one. Your photos and reviews have to win that look.
-
Painter marketing
Most repaints go to a shortlist of quotes. The job is being on that shortlist every time.
-
Carpenter marketing
Decks, pergolas and renos get researched before they get booked. Be what the research finds.
-
Roofer marketing
Storm weeks bring their own calls. The marketing is for the re-roofs and restorations in between.
-
Pest control marketing
Pest calls are urgent and local. People search once, pick from what Google shows, and call.
-
Solar marketing
Households shop around before they sign. The win is enquiries that land with you alone, not shared with rivals.

Lachlan from King Tradie is the top G of tradie website design, development, and management. I've worked with many website agencies and individuals, and no one comes close to Lachlan's attention to detail and high-end quality. He doesn't waste your time asking the same questions; in fact, he did his own research and made the onboarding and entire website development process easy. I normally get myself too involved in projects, but I literally only had to show up for the photography session. Lachlan handled the rest. If you want to skip the time and money wasters, go with King Tradie.

Highly recommend Lachie from King Tradie! He built a new website for my construction business and made the entire process simple and stress-free. I was able to hand over the reins and trust him to take control of the design and development, while still keeping everything clearly explained throughout the process. The finished website looks professional, the quality is excellent, and I'm extremely happy with the outcome. Most importantly, Lachie allowed me to stay focused on running my business instead of spending valuable time trying to build a website myself. Great service from start to finish!

Why work with us.
Plenty of agencies sell marketing to tradies. Here's what's different about how we do it.
-
A track record you can check
Our clients are named on this website with their real numbers, so you can see what we've actually done before you spend a dollar.
-
We match the plan to the trade
A plumber's clients search in a panic; a landscaper's compare for weeks. We build around how your clients actually pick, not a one-size template.
-
Plain-English reporting
Each month we tell you what we did, what changed, and what's next. If a number goes backwards, we say so and say why.
For every size of trade business
Wherever you're at, marketing does something different for you. Here's each stage.
- 1-3 on the crew
Starter
Owner's still on the tools, and the work comes from word of mouth. The first win: be easy to find and easy to check out.
- 4-9 on the crew
Growing
You've got a crew to keep busy now. This is where a marketing system earns its keep: enquiries steady enough to plan around.
- 10+ on the crew
Established
You're a known name; now it's about owning your market. Wherever people look for your trade, you're the first name they see.
On page one of Google for around 40 searches, and getting about 10 new clients a month from it. Read the Quick Mick's Plumbing case study

Marketing questions?
See if we answered it below.
Should a tradie start with SEO or Google Ads?
It depends on the work you want. Urgent jobs go to whoever shows up first, so ads and the map pay off fast. Planned jobs get researched, so rankings win over time. Most trades run a mix. Our SEO vs Google Ads guide goes deeper.
Do I need a new website first?
Not always. If your current website loads slowly, hides your best work or looks like everyone else's template, we fix that first, because the ads, the map and the rankings all send people to it. If it already does its job, we build on it and spend the money where it's weakest.
How long before it starts working?
Ads are the quick part: they can have enquiries landing within days of going live. Your Google profile usually moves within weeks. Rankings are the slow build, months of work, but they compound: the searches you win this year keep sending work next year without a bill per click.
How much does marketing for tradies cost?
There's no set price: your trade, your area and your starting point all change the answer. We give you a real number on a call, with no lock-in contracts. For market ranges, see our SEO cost guide and Google Ads benchmarks.
Which trades do you do marketing for?
Nine trades each have a page: plumbers, electricians, air conditioning, landscapers, painters, carpenters, roofers, pest control and solar. The seven biggest carry their monthly search numbers. Not on the list? The same four parts apply to any trade, so reach out anyway.
